I found your family members on the 1900 census in Montgomery County living
quite close together if these are the right people.

William Vogel born Dec 1861 38 married 15 years IL GER GER farmer
Mary Dec 1867 32 8 children/8 alive IL IL IL

2 sons that I cant read names of one born June 1890 and the other in Nov
1892

Andrew J. Evans Nov 1839 60 married 39 years IL VA TN farmer
Margrett Sept 1843 56 11 children/5 alive IL TN TN

There was also a Louis Vogel in household 46 who could be related to
William, possibly his father.

Jack Evans is still happily married in 1900. He too is in Grisham Township,
page 96, household 112.

In 1920 Andrew and family are back in Montgomery County, East Fork Township
Evans, Andrew J. 49 Nora E. 46, Walter 18, and Gatha P. 11
He is a dairyman and Walter is farming

Jack Evans is in Montgomery County, East Fork Township in 1830. He is 59,
Nora is 56. No children at home. Jack's occupation is truck--farming.

So, if this murder did occur, it was after 1930.
