Finally found your Louis in Montgomery County in 1860. His last name was
spelled Fogle. No wonder I couldn't find him after looking through every V
in the index!

Anyway, he's in Walshville, page 173. Louis Fogle 29 farmer $800 $300
HesseDarmstadt, Millie 29 Hanover, Louis Jr. 4 IL, Adilda 2 IL, and Mary 4
months. There is also a Fritz Miller living with the family, 22 years old,
born in Hanover. Possible brother to Caroline (Millie)?

No sign of a John Vogel/Vogle/Fogle anywhere.

Thinking I had totally misread the 1870 census--how did Louis Jr. change
into Louisa? I went back and looked at it again. It is indeed a
Louisa-female-on the 187o census. Kinda strange. What do your records
show?
