Elmer,
I pass Cress Hill probably 4-5 times a week. From the highway you can get a
glimpse of the house and barn. The barn is about gone. It's been
collapsing for a while now. There has been a lot of clearing of trees going
on these last several months. From the entrance side you can see up in
there somewhat. I see cars up there, so perhaps someone is living there....
probably someone knows that better than me.

I have Catherine's obit that I copied at the Irving Museum.

Linda

Linda, Jack was the son of Margaret Duke. Jack and Catherine Lavina Cress
lived on Cress Hill for years. Though I have never been there I have a copy
of a print of the Cress Farm on Cress Hill. My grandmother Jessie Frances
Patton Thorn was probably born on that hill. She was the daughter of Clara
Scherer and granddaughter of Jack and Catherine Scherer. Light and Clara
Scherer Patton moved to Missouri when she was a baby. Have a picture of her
taken in Hillsboro when she was abt 7 mos old.
