Hi,
Has anyone done any research on children adopted from the orphan train
in Montgomery County (or more specifically in the Nokomis area) back in
the late 1800s?
Were these adoptions "official", by that I mean are there records on
them at the courthouse in Hillsboro?
One in particular that I'm researching is Benjamin Dana Kemner born Mar
22 1883 in New York City, father Louis Kemner, mother unknown. I
haven't been able to find anything else about him except that he was
baptised in rural Nokomis on Mar 19 1899. After that, he's a mystery.
Did he change his name? Did he leave and go somewhere else?
Darren
