Dear Miriam,
While I cannot help you with your specific request, I found a brief
reference to the Sallee family in a book I have on Morgan County families. I
thought it might be helpful. It is under a section on the Van Winkle family,
and says that on the maternal line one of the Van Winkles married Charity
Sallee. The Van Winkles had come from Holland to Maryland to VA to NC to
Lincoln and Wayne Cos in KY to Morgan Co. It says the Sallees were Hugenots
who came very early in the 17th century to VA. They were members of the
group at "Manakin Town" near Richmond who had been given a grant of land.
