THANKS to all who responded to my request for INDIAN CREEK info. As Mary
pointed out INDIAN CREEk was a notable landmark streching accross north
Morgan. And the PRECINCT point about being a voting district is also a valid
point. Using my ancestor's land purchases as a guide, my best GUESS is that
the PRECINCT as it existed in 1860 census was in T16-11w possibly
encompassing section 25,26, 35, 36. As I say this is a GUESS placing it
about 5 to 6 miles north of Jacksonville, Suzi. My ancestor purchased 15
seperate tracts of land, some of it may have been solely farming tracts, and
not for residence. Trying to pinpoint his residence prompted the query .
(Wife may be buried there as she is not found in the family cemetery or any
other as yet) Have you done a land search Suzi ? Great records are
available at the Morgan County Clerk's offfice. Also I would love to get my
eyes on the 1872 plat map for 16N- 11W and 15N-11W & 10W
