Subject: [ILMORGAN] MOSS family/Indian Creek
Date: Wed, 6 Jun 2001 08:19:57 EDT

My GG grandfather was Charles Wallace MOSS (b. 27 Sep 1842, Morgan, Illinois;
d. 8 Dec 1927, Holt, Nebraska). His father was Isaac Moss (b. ?; d. 1 Sep
1847, Morgan, Illinois). According to a history written by one of Charles
Wallace's sons, Ira Earl Moss, "The Moss ancestors were early settlers in
Virginia, the first known member of the family in America being Robert Moss,
who migrated from England to Virginia in colonial days. Four generations
later, John Moss, grandfather of Charles, drove a wagon drawn by oxen from
Virginia to Morgan County, Illinois, and settled on Indian Creek, near
Jacksonville, where he helped erect the first log house in the town."

I am looking for other researchers interested in the MOSS family of Morgan
County to help with this search and be helped by this (and other)
information.
