Hi List,
I have a marriage certificate from my Great Grandparents from Morgan County.
Michael Russell and Mary Malady.
The marriage was performed by James Dempsey C. P. (Catholic Priest) 30 June
1856.
Would anyone have knowledge regarding area or township this priest was from?
There is no township or city listed on the document, except for Jacksonville,
which I understand is the county seat.
One item I do find in question is that the document was filed with the county
clerk, Matthew Stacey? on the same date the ceremony was performed. This is
the first time that I have seen this occur, usually there is a period of time
from the marriage to the filing.
Any light you can shed on the above would be greatly appreciated.
