Yes, there is currently an East Alton (of course, not in Morgan Co. but in
Madison Co.) It is just east of IL Rt. 3, southeast of Alton - between
there and Wood River. If you look in a road atlas, and use the blow-up of
the St. Louis area, you can see it.
I am assuming that there would be city directories for Alton.
