Velma, I'd never rule out a connection, but I haven't been able to make one yet either!

The earliest Haney in my records is Jariel Haney, born in Kentucky, about 1833. He was married to Elvira Ann Park, b. 1/28/1861, d. 12/14/1940. They were probably married around Morgan or Scott County, IL, and had 3 children that I've been able to document: Ada Viola Haney, b. 1/28/1861, Alma C. Haney, b. about 1867, and Grace Haney, b. 1/8/1871.

The 1880 Morgan County census shows Grace Haney living with her sister Ada and her husband, John Frederick Blimling. The same year, the Linn County Missouri census shows that a Jariel Haney is living with his (new) wife Esther and son Willis Haney, born about 1879.

None of the names that you mentioned have come up in my research. However, I did find a Eugene Haney listed as buried in the Beckmeyer Public Cemetery, in Clinton, IL. He was born in 1913, and died in 1986. Here's the website: http://fayeshaneyfamily.homestead.com/HaneyBurialsIllinois.html

The same site shows a Samuel Elsworth Haney buried in Wabash County, IL in the Old Bethel Cemetery. It does not state his date of birth, but says that he died on 8/20/1929 at the age of 37 years, 4 months, and 18 days!

I haven't found anything yet on Mabel Viola Powell Haney or her daughter Christina -- but if I do every find a connection, I will certainly contact you, and would be thrilled if you would do the same!

Best of luck,
Cricket Hackmann
