I am in the process of putting together a 150 year History of Forreston Book. It will be published the summer of 2004.
One of the names I am researching is that of Dr. J.D. Covell. He was a physician and settled in Forreston IL around 1871. He later ran a store and was a dealer in drugs, medicines, paints, oils, glass, putty, books, fancy goods, etc. and ran advertising in the Forreston Paper in the 1870’s. I am trying to determine which building he had his store in. A lead on any photos would be greatly appreciated.
He also went into business with a man named Beebe and produced a Success oil can. He was appointed postmaster Sept. 2 1885.
He was married to a Helen Blossom. I found the obituary for Lyman Covell, his father of Elmira, NY (which is also where J.D. Covell is buried).
