Is a mailing list and is for sending a query to be
posted for all members of the mailing list to receive or for the discussion
of genealogy item of interested to a large group of people . IT IS NOT MEANT
TO BE A PLACE FOR PERSONAL E-MAIL TO A INDIVIDUAL . Usually a home page is a
person own page or a companies home page and they have control on what is on
the page . On the mailing list only those who have subscribed to that
particular list receive the message . There are different sites or list that
you can post a Query. Example Tazewell County has a mailing list & a
Tazewell County Illinois Genealogy
( http://www.rootsweb.com/~iltazewell/ ) When you post a query at the
Tazewell County IL Genealogy site it is usually ther until you ask to have
it removed. All of the Rootsweb sites like this will send you a confirmation
of recieving your post . When you first subscribe to most of these sites you
will recieve a WELCOME E-MAIL ,READ IT AND KEEP IT FOR FUTHER REFERENCE ON
how to subscribe, unsubscribe , how to post and how to do various other
things on that particulary site.
