I don't know the answer to that question. I think the paper goes back at least to the 1860's, but people weren't as good about putting obituaries in back then. You could probably call the library and ask them before you send a written request. Here's their website, phone number is on there I think, or maybe you could email the question:

Do you know how far back the obituaries go? I need several from the 1850s
