Hi Kenneth....
I was able to confirm the marriage of William S. Berry to Scioty E. Garrett
in 1856. Also, William's later marriage to Elizabeth J. Wethers on October
19, 1865, Massac County.
Were you able to get a cause of their divorce on April 10, 1865?
These were tumultous times with Lee's surrender on April 9th bringing
the Civil War to an end. Massac and Pope Counties were in a precarious
geographical position. President Lincoln was assassinated
just 5 days later. I mention this, because it is very possible
that Scioto left the area as early as 1861 if William went off
to war. Do you know if he served in the military?
You probably know that there were members of the Garrett
family in Massac County, however, some of them may have
migrated further North when the war began.
I will hold on to your inquiry. I plan to add a "Most
Wanted List" to our website, and will add her name
when the page is finished.
If there is anything I can do to help, contact me
again. I am sorry I couldnt find more information at
this time for you.
