Forwarding this on. Really fascinating !
I thought some of you might enjoy reading this newscast from ABCNEWS on
April 21st. Here's the gist:
April 21 - It may be the world's largest known family tree. Researchers
from
Oxford University in Oxford, England, have identified seven ancestral
matriarchal groups from which all Europeans appear to be descended.
These
maternal clans form the root of a family tree that has sprouted millions
of
individuals.
Every European, according to the study, can trace his or her
evolutionary
history back to the seven ancestral mother groups, also referred to as
the
Seven Daughters of Eve. The researchers, who both discovered and
formulated
the genetic groupings, say these women would have lived between 8,000 to
45,000 years ago. The URL for the web site is:

It's fascinating reading!
Enjoy,
You can also have this done for a individual
surname or person cost though is 180.00 for a test. Each additional test
161.00 per surname.
This would of course prove if you are on the right
track or not. This was done with Thomas Jefferson and a contorversy that
was with his descendants. It seems that Thomas Jefferson traveled and
brought home a slave women to work in his house. But it was believed
that she was more than just a slave but there was no proof. The
descendants of this slave women looked just like jefferson but they were
denied acces to a accosation because know documentation showed that he
had produced children with the slave women. So a group of descendants
had a DNA testing done of them and Thomas Jefferson's descendents. The
test showed that the descendants of this slave women have the same DNA
code as does Thomas Jefferson's descendants. I guess DNA is like our
finger prints. No two seperate DNA strands can exist and not be related.
I wish I had the money I would like to run this test.
There is a couple of Ancestors I would like to test that may help me
locate where they came from. I guess the article also spells out that
you can test a surname. They will show you what areas in Europe your DNA
sample you send them matches with what every surname you are searching.
I would like to find out where my Simmons lines came from
in America as well as Europe, Either England, Ireland or Scotland. I
also have a ancestor who is said to be a descendant of John Rogers the
Maytr who was killed by the Catholic Church as a heretic. I am not
saying anything bad about the church but that is simply what the facts
record. Any way most people say my ancestor does not connest to John
rogers because they can not find her link. This test would be a proof if
my DNA matches the DNA of known descendants of John Rogers.
