Subject: [ILPOPE-L] COPLAND, WARD, McGEE, HAZEL, MORSE, MORROW, CALHOON, CHAPMAN
Since I haven't been able to trace Jonathan WARD who married Rosie McGEE (Barren County, KY 1804), I am looking at their immediate families, hoping to track them that way. For others just joining the conversation, Jonathan WARD and Rosie McGEE arrived in Pope County, IL about 1816. Jonathan WARD immediately died and Rosie McGEE WARD died a few years later, leaving their children with guardians including William SIMS. As adults, the WARD children lived in Massac, Johnson and Pulaski Counties (especially the Boaz / Karnak / Belknap / Vienna area), the first generation marrying in to the ENSMINGER, HAZEL / HAZLE, COPLAND / COPELAND & CALHOON, and MORROW families. Children of Jonathan WARD and Rosie McGEE WARD were: Pleasant Lewis WARD, John WARD, Anna WARD, Louisa M. WARD, Jonathan L. or Nathan WARD, and one thus far unidentified daughter WARD.
Stella, your notes have intrigued me. Can you please answer some questions for me? . . .
1.) When & where did your Archbald Mason Johnson marry Nancy WARD?
2.) Which McGee / McGeehee did your Johnson marry, and when and where did they marry?
3.) These Johnsons are all somehow connected to the Massac County area, right? Through the Coplands or Evers?
Thanks for any leads which might help me find my way out of a dead end.
