Is anyone out there researching the name of Chauvin. I am interested in the
family of Gilles Chauvin from Canada. And the 4 brothers who made names for
themselves in Louisana. Joseph Chauvin dit DeLery, Nicolas Chauvin dit La
Freniere, Jacques Chauvin and Louis Chauvin dit Beauleau. I have a lot of
infor on the ones in Canada and LA, but not much on the ones who settled in
Ill. territory.
Louis c. january 14 1702 settled in St. Genevieve.
Phillipe Chauvin dit Joyeuse believed married in Illinois to Mariane danys
april 1734. Phillipe died before 1743 leaving 4 children. I would like to
know more on this family. Thinking perhaps he might be found in Randolph
County.
It also seem there were Chauvin who settled the area who were not related to
these Chauvins?
Thanks
Pat
