The Sun, San Bernardino, CA - November 9, 2004

PHIL EVANS, 62, passed away November 5, 2004. Born July 22, 1942 in Steelville, IL, he was a resident of San Bernardino. Phil entered the Air Force in 1959 and served for 30 years, retiring as Chief Master Sergeant from Norton Air Force Base in 1989. In 1991 Phil began another career with San Bernardino Superior Court as a Court Facilities Worker for 13 years. He was a life member and Pas Post Commander of VFW Post 1744 in San Bernardino. He leaves behind his wife, Mary Evans of San Bernardino; daughter Anita and son-in-law Michael McCarty of Seattle, WA; grandson Christopher McCarty of San Diego, CA; tow sisters, Shirley Brezenski of Denver, CO, and Sarah Connor of Omaha, NB; and a brother, James Evans, also of Omaha. He also leaves behind stepchildren, Shawna Zilno of Mentone, CA, Kevin Morton of Redlands, CA and Vivian Copolillo of Encino, CA.

Phil had many friends and acquaintances that will surely miss him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Leonard Anderson Post 1744 at 1541 W. 34th Street in San Bernardino.
