My records show that William C. WOOD and Martha (COOK) WOOD had 6
children. Five of them made it to Kansas in the 1880 Census, and
only three made it to Oklahoma in "The Land Run," They had two girls
born first, mid1866 and late 1867, then there is a gap of about three
years before the first boy was born in Mar of 1870. The other two boys
were born 1872 and 1874. The Mortality schedule shows an infant WOOD
dying in Kewanee about the right time. But, my question is, how do I find
out for sure that the infant was theirs? And is there some kind of
record to prove it.
Another question, same family. The first boy, born, 31, Mar 1870 is
listed as 3 / 12 old in the 1870 census. They were living in Kewanne,
Henry Co. at the time of the census. But, I have some heresay passed down
from a great aunt that he was born in Cook Co. His name would be Edwin
William, or William Edwin. Is there some way to find out which County he
was born in before I send for a birth Certificate, or can a birth
Certificate search cover both Counties. I have Pension records showing
his date and birth to William C. WOOD but I would like to have a birth
Certificate for a secondary primary source.
