Willisville, IL is about 60 miles southeast of St. Louis, located in Perry
county just west of Du Quoin. The population was 577 as of 1999. The only
sites might be trenches and mounds as the area is marked strip mines on my
map. Also a spur line of the Illinois Central Railroad ends just south east
of the town. Probably to take out the coal. Du Quoin holds a state fair
every year. It was noted for its harness racing.
This whole area across southern Illinois was a coal mining region. This is
all I know.
