Subject: [ILROOTS] Dublin, IL?
Date: Sun, 10 Mar 2002 02:55:12 EST
hi,
There were two towns by the name of Dublin in Illinois but one had
changed its name to New Dublin before 1880 so the one that is left existed in
Montgomery County and must've been very small since its Post Office was
closed for the third and final time in its less than eight year existence on
17Jan1889.
For a list of every place name that ever existed in Illinois, listed by
county, please visit <A

Illinois Family History Research: Place Names of Each Illinois County</A>
the site is rather large so if using a dial up connection during AOL peak
operating time don't expect it to download in less than a minute.
A copy of this e-mail is being sent directly to the sender since my reply
is being made to the [ILROOTS] List and the person listed below posted to the
board and probably is not a subscriber to this list...
happy hunting

I found a marriage cert. for some people i was looking for and it says they
were married in Brownstown, IL, which is in Fayette County, IL.
Further down it says dated at "dublin, ills" at least that is what it looks
like was there ever a dublin, IL and if so I am supposing it was in Fayette
county, or was maybe its own county back in 1893.
Any ideas?
