Hi,
My Nation is from Petersburg, Illinois as far as I know. I have My
Grandmother ETHEL FLORENCE NATION, b. 2/20/1888 in Petersburg, d. 1/30/1919 in
Springfield, Illinois. I know she died of the flu.
Her parents were JAMES NATION and SARA MELTON. Where they are from I do not
know. My Grandmother married, 10/16/1905, to
GEORGE HENRY BATES, b. 12/4/1883 in Rice County, Abilene, Kansas and d.
5/7/1955 in Springfield, Illinois. His parents are,
JOHN THOMAS BATES and ALICE BELLE McCLAINE
Children: of ETHEL NATION & GEORGE BATES
EDNA BATES, b. 7/17/1906 (my Mother) m. BERTON WHITCOMB,
FRANK RODEMS
CLARENCE BATES, b. 10/9/1908, m. ELLA SMITH
CLARA BATES, b. 1/15/1909, b. CLAUDE OSTERMEIER
GEORGE BATES, b. 1911, m. GRACE DURHAM
ELMER BATES, b. 8/4/1913, m. CHRISTINE SHADIS
