You may be able to get further back if you take a look at the marriage
applications. Illinois marriage applications after about 1877 asked for the
names of both the bride and the groom's parents. This really helped me in 2
instances. I don't know where these are archived but know they have been
microfilmed by the library in Salt Lake City.
