I have one question, I have Mary J married to William Lawson on 31 Jan. 1864 Winchester, Scott Co. IL. I know she would have only been 14 or 15, but I received this info from Donna Kilroy's bible information and found the marriage in the Illinois Marriage Index (though Mary Summers is not that uncommon a name). And does anyone know how the parents died? I have no year of death for the mother. She could have died anytime before 1860, when the girls appear in different homes.
Thanks, Helen

Lance,
Below is what I had been trying to send you. It appears you have
research it very thoroughly. I don't a lot more to add, but maybe a
few little bits of info.
As you also discovered, the marriage date for Green J. and Elsey Clemm
of 1854 was wrong. They were married in 1846. So the three children
listed below all belong to Green J. and Elsey Clemn. I believe, but can't
prove, that Eliza is actually Elsey. I've seen worse spelling on the censuses.
Green J. was the son of John Alexander Summers and Margaret Jackson.
John Alexander was b. 05 Jun 1794, d. 06 Nov 1869 in Scott County, IL.
Green J. (b. 1818, d. 1854), married Elsey Clemm, on 27 Jan 1846 in
Scott County, IL. Green and Elsey had three known daughters - (1)
Sarah, (2) Mary J. and (3) Emily (Emma) Frances Summers.
(1) Sarah (b. 1848, Scott County, IL) married first William McGinnis on
03 Sep 1866, Scott County. William and Sarah had two children - (1)
William McGinnis, Jr. and (2) Leonie McGinnis (b. Feb 1870) both born
in Scott County.
Sarah McGinnis second marriage was to Charles M. Lyman (b. 1844,
Mishawaka, St. Joseph, IN) on 14 Nov 1874. They had three children,
all born in Scott County - (1) Joseph E., (2) Carrie Belle and (3) Henry
H. Lyman (b. 1879, Scott County).
Green J. and Elsey's second daughter - (2) Mary J. Summers (b. 1849)
married Ephraim Welch, 03 Jun 1863 in Scott County, IL. They had three
known children - Sarah (b. 1865), Abbie (b. 1867) and John (b. 1869).
Green J. and Elsey's third daughter -(3) Emily (Emma) Frances Summers
(b. 05 Aug 1854). Emma married Martin Luther Anthony, 05 Apr 1874
in Winchester, IL.
That is all I have... I know there was more than one Green Summers, so
you have to watch the ages.

Well, I went back and checked the Census records today.
It appears that Eliza SUMMERS wife of Green SUMMERS did not marry Henry
LITTLE, it was a different Eliza and yes Mary was in the Mclassin Household in
1860. The name was actually McGlasson, and Martha McGLASSON was the daughter of
Absolom ADAMS where the other two girls lived.
In the 1850 Census what looked like Eliza reads more like Elzira. Some
researchers had attributed two marriages to Green SUMMERS, when the evidence
would indicate he was married only one. They list his death as being in 1854,
when it looks like it was Elzira / Elsey who was probably the one who died. For
Green SUMMERS is listed in the Murrayville Census of 1860 in the household of
John REID. Why were the girls in the ADAMS household one can only speculate.
But there appears to be no relationship between the ADAMS family and the SUMMERS
family. Absolom ADAMS married Minerva SANDERS in Wayne Co, KY. in 1823.
Here is how I have reconstructed the family:
Green J. SUMMERS born about 1818 in Sumner CO, TN s/o John Alexander SUMMERS
and Margaret JACKSON.
Elsey CLEMM born about 1829 in KY. They married 27 Jan 1846 in Scott County.
Now why was this 17 year girl from Kentucky was in Scott County, IL. Who knows
but there are no other CLEMM family members in the area.
Children:
i. Sarah born about 1848 in Scott Co, IL. She married William McGINNIS 09
Mar 1866 in Scott Co, IL I did not find them after 1870, but I may have missed
them.
ii. Mary J. born about 1849 in Scott Co, IL. She married Ephraim WELCH 03
Jun 1863 in Scott Co, IL. There a storm in Winchester Cemetery that simply
states Ephraim WELCH Co. G 28th Ill. Inf. Mary remarries George W. Long 06 Aug
1874 in Scott Co, IL. There is a stone in the New Manchester Cemetery that
simply reads Mary A. Welch Long (Mother) 1845 -1916 which I believe to be her.
State records shows a Mary Ann LONG died 16 Jan 1916 in Scott Co, IL. I did not
find her in the 1900 Census, but I may have missed her.
ii. Emma Frances born 05 Aug 1854 in Scott Co, IL. She married Martin Luther
ANTHONY 05 Apr 1874 in Winchester, Scott, IL. She died 09 Mar 1931 In Polk Co,
AR.
Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Lance
