Mrs. Newton Summers spent Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Edw. Burns.
Clarence Cox was calling on his mother, Mrs. Geo. Green, Monday afternoon.

Geo. Green received a severe wound upon his head Saturday afternoon while building a car shed. A timber fell and struck him upon the head.

Mrs. Bertha Hoots spent Sunday night at James Hoots' home.
David McDade spent Sunday at the home of his brother Will.
Reuben Gregory of Springfield spent Saturday night and Sunday with home folks.
Missess Rosa Boester and Lois Peterson spent Friday with Miss Nina Dubbel.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Foster of Winchester were visiting Sunday the home of his parents.
James Havens wife and daughters Emma and Lena, attended the fair at Jacksonville Thursday of last week.
Misses Lois Peterson and Edna Stice, John Peterson and Walter Reuter were calling in Jacksonville Sunday afternoon.
H.W. Hoots and sons Leonard and Roy, and A.L. Stice motored to Mt. Erie, Ill. Sunday, for a few days visit with Wm. Hoots.
Thomas Smith and son Henry and daughter Mrs. Bertha Hoots, went to Jacksonville last Thursday. The latter visited Mrs. Kent Smothers at the hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Smith, son Earl, Mrs. Mary Davis and daughters Mildred and Ruby, and Thos. Smith visited Sunday in Naples at the home of Harlin Little.
Jas. Hoots and family, Mrs. Bertha Hoots, Mr. and Mrs. Russell McLaughlin and daughters Evelyn and Imogene, Freeda, Marie, Ileen, James Jr., and Leroy Hoots were calling at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Howard Sunday afternoon.

Raymond Knoeppel, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Knoeppel and Miss Helen M. Byler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Byler of La Harpe were united in marriage at 6 o'clock p.m., Thursday at the Iowa Hotel in Keokuk, Iowa, Rev. Arthur Neuman, former student of Carthage College and close friend of the bridal pair officiating. Immediately after the ceremony, the bridal party passed to the dining room where an elegant six o'clock dinner was served. The bridal pair left on the evening train for a brief wedding journey, after which they will make their home in Bluffs where the groom will teach in the public school. Mr. Knoeppel is on of Bluffs popular young men and a graduate of Bluffs high school of 1920. After completing the four year's course in the B.H.S. he entered Carthage College, wher3e he received his A.B. degree graduating with the class of 1924. Last year he taught in the Manual Training department of the Franklin high school. The bride is a charming young lady and !
a graduate of the La Harpe high school. She also took special work at Carthage College, where she became acquainted with Mr. Knoeppel. Last year she taught a very successful term of school near La Harpe. The following guests close relatives and friends witnessed the ceremony: Mr. and Mrs. Victor Knoeppel and son Le Roy, and Miss Alma Gaesling, Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Byler and daughters, Mrs. Bessie Edwards, Mr. Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Byler and son David, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Byler and son Robert and Mr. Wayne.
Mrs. John Korty and son Lee were Jacksonville visitors Friday.
G.O. Maine and Lee Korty visited in Macomb Thursday.

Miss Mina Greenwalt of Manchester was a business caller in Alsey Tuesday.
Mrs. Jas. O'Reilly and children spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Pat O'Reilly.
Miss Mae Southwell spent Saturday and Sunday at home in Manchester.
Mr. and Mrs. Mike Fryman left last week to visit relatives in Calhoun county.
Mrs.Robert Woodall visited Monday afternoon with her sister, Mrs. Lonnie Day.
Mrs. Mary A. Wills returned home Monday, after visiting in Winchester several days
Lee Northcutt, who was very sick for several days last week is able to be out in town.
Mrs. Jas. Bell and Mrs. W.S. Northrop visited Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. Rosa Bell.
Jerry Karr and Bert Todd of Wood River were week end visitors at their homes In Alsy.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Ambrose visited Wednesday with their daughter Mr. Wm. Cumby and family.
Mrs. S.N. Atkinson attended teacher's Institute a couple of days last week at Roodhouse.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Stuart left Tuesday morning for a trip to Missouri to visit relatives.
The contractors finished oiling the roads Saturday afternoon and left Alsey Monday Morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Fryman of Jacksonville visited relatives in Alsey several days last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Tadlock and daughter Maxine, visited friends at Hillview Sunday afternoon.
Miss Blanche Robinson of Alton visited several days last week with Misses Myrtle and Ollie Renner and other relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Ab. Barnett and family of near Glasgow visited Sunday with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harley Hanback.
Homer Ruby and sister, Mrs. Everette Mann of Jacksonville visited Friday night and Saturday with their mother, Mrs. Ruby.
Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Overton and Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Drake and son Paul of Glasgow attended the picture show at Alsey, Monday night.
All members of the church are earnestly requested to be present at a business meeting to be held at the church Sunday evening, Sept. 13th
Dr. G.W. Bowman and son Irl, and wife and Mrs. Roy Myers arrived home Thursday, from their automobile trip through the western states.
Fairyland, Friday and Saturday nights, the big Zane Grey western special. "The Thundering Herd." A 50 cent show at 10 and 25 cents. Orchestra each night. Tuesday, Sept 15th ' A Man Must Live."
