My 2nd-Great Grandmother, Louisa Maria Hall, was born in Exeter, Illinois - one source states that Exeter is in Scott County and a second source has it in Hancock County. I know that today there is a small unincorporated village called Exeter in Scott County and that Scott County was formed in 1839 from a section of Morgan County. I also know that Hancock County was formed on January 13 1825, out of Pike County. Can anyone tell me if in 1839 there was a place called Exeter in Hancock County or if the Exeter in Scott County is the one that was in existence in 1839? Thanks for your help.
