Scott,

I have only found Harriett as an adult in the 1850 census in Wabash County,
wife of Andrew Thompson. The census indicates that Harriett and Andrew were
married in 1850. The two children I know of are Henry R. Thompson born in
1852, and Laura Ann Thompson born in 1854. In the 1860 census I only find
Laura living with her grandparents Henry and Jane (Lovellette) Degan in
Wabash County. Brother Henry R. is not with them. Perhaps he and his
parents went somewhere else?

I did find a Henry R. Thompson living in Vincennes, IN, with a Samuel R.
Alexander, a Presbyterian minister, and his wife, the former Dorcas
Thompson. It was at least a second marriage for each of them. Dorcas
Thompson's first husband was a Minard S. Smith, son of Daniel Smith. Of
course I don't know if this Henry R. Thompson is Laura's brother or, if he
is, how Dorcas Thompson Smith Alexander was related. Andrew Thompson was
born about 1817 in Indiana. Dorcas was born about 1820 in Indiana. Perhaps
they were siblings??? I've been looking for Andrew Thompson's family for
over two years now!

In the 1880 census I found H. R. Thompson with Laura Ann and her husband
William B. Fisher in Greenwood KS seemingly in a joint venture as farmers.
My grandmother Alice and her brother are with them in KS. By the next
census the Fishers are back in Wabash County.

I was born in Mt. Carmel in 1945, and remember going back to Keensburg with
my mom and to visit my grandparents in Belmont in the early 1950's. They
had moved back to Wabash Co after 20-30 years in Cairo. They were Edward L.
Kern and Alice Fisher Kern. They lived across the street from a lovely woman
named Edna Joachim, with whom I kept up a correspondence for several years
as a child. She was one of those women who are always glad to take a moment
and visit with a child. I have photos of baby me being bounced on the lap
of a man named Fatso Weisenberger, who had a service station and a store.
My mom's best friends were Roy Anice Compton and Betty Rigg Deputy. Her
teacher and friend was Mel Essary. I think we are interrelated to all those
families as well as to the Kennards and numerous others! My mom was Lucy
Kern, b 1922, Cairo, IL.

So, I answered your question in my first sentence! Do you have any
suggestions?

Linda

Linda,

Based on the birth date and the census info, it does seem like a stretch for
it to be the right person.

May I ask what was the last census she was enumerated in?
