Lena Lela "Bobby" Chastain, 97, Carmi, died at 7:15 a.m. Sunday, April 1,
2007 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi.

She was born April 18, 1909, in New Haven, the daughter of William "Bill"
and Sarah Jane (Edwards) Roark. She was the last of 13 children. She married
Otis Eldred Chastain on Sept. 12, 1925, and he preceded her in death on
Sept. 17, 1989. Mrs. Chastain was the manager of the Faust Hotel from 1952
until 1972.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death in 1948
by a son, Jimmy Chastain, who wrote the book "The History of New Haven." He
had polio from the age of 3. She was also preceded in death by seven
sisters, Stella Allen, Bertha Acord, Florence Watts, Anna West, Easter
Roark, Ellie Mears and Inez Sparrow; five brothers, Ed, Lawrence, Lee, Jim
and Earl Roark; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell Funeral Home in
Carmi, the Rev. Lowes Browning officiating. Burial will be at Union Ridge
Cemetery near New Haven. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the
service Tuesday at the funeral home
