I found them, but NOT in Whiteside, used my Ancestry account and found: BLACKFORD, JOHN
State: IL Year: 1850
County: Carroll County Record Type: Federal Population Schedule
Township: Harlem Township Page: 368
Database: IL 1850 Federal Census Index
Looking at the census, the entry is:
John Blackford 28 M Farmer $400 NY
Lida 23 F Ohio

Harlem Township became York late in 1850, which is the area where Thomson IL is located. I don't have copies of the later censuses, did check burials in York, Wysox and Fairhaven townships and did not find any Blackfords.
