Dear Will Co Listers,

I am looking for information on a DUPEE (probably pronounced Dupay and
spelled a number of ways) of Will Co..probably Joliet.

I spoke with Mr. Iverson, the sextant of Oakwood Cemetery in Joliet and he
gave me information regarding other surnames buried in the Henry Kimball Stevens
family cemetery plot at Oakwood. I recognized all the names from my
searches, except the surname DUPEE. He will be eventually sending me some additional
name information, but I'm sure that he is very busy with the flower shop this
time of year, so it may be a while. In the meantime, I am very curious as to
the connection of this name to the Stevens family.

I am suspicious that one of the sisters (unknown name) of Henry K. Stevens
married a Dupee...could be wrong...but that is my guess lacking other infor.
There were three Dupee brothers who came to Chicago from MA in the early
1850s...Charles B. , Cyrus and Horace M. The Horace who died in Joliet is the father
of a Horace Fawcett Dupee who the state death index shows as dying in Joliet
on July 15, 1928.

I know from printed Bios that Horace M. (the father of Horace Fawcett Dupee)
Married in 1874 to an Elizabeth Robinson Buchanan and before that briefly to a
Cornelia Church. From the same source, we find that Charles B. Dupee married
an Emmeline Wellington. However, I have no info on the brother, Cyrus Dupee.
I would like to find out whether he might have married a STEVENS sister.

My suspicions are increased by the fact that Henry K. Stevens had a daughter,
Mary Addi Stevens (married first Frazier) (m 2nd Dr. William O. Cheeseman)
who died along with her husband in Hyde Park Hotel in Chicago (they are both
buried in the Stevens family plots as well). The 1880 residence of the Dupees
was Hyde Park, Chicago.

If anyone has any info on the Dupay/Dupee family...I would appreciate the
sharing.
