Adam:
I am of Italian and Slovak roots and I understand what you are trying to say
about how hard it is to track down your relatives records prior to
immigration to the US. In addition, the frustration becomes more intense
when you can't read or write the language. The villages or hamlets have
either been destroyed or renamed OR in another Country now. Records were
sent to other towns for safe keeping or lost forever and the task in finding
those records is overwhelming.
I know that everyone's search is a difficult search and I think your
intention was to help the person, asking the question about Ancestor.com,
understand that her search probably would not be worth the money to become a
member because of the availability of the records she is searching.
However, it is a wonderful thing that Ancestor.com has made this information
available to all through their site. Maybe in time Ancestor.com will link
with the Latter Day Saints to help researchers like us, but I do not think
that will be anytime soon or ever.
