Judy,

If your Smith was born in KY - it won't be the fella in prison,
cause he's born PA. Maybe try AR/IL/KYIA/MO those would seem
more likely.

Need help finding Leonard Hutton Smith b: abt 1800 - Kentucky.

Leonard Hutton Smith {L.H. Smith} is listed in the 1840, Vernon
Township, Washington County, Census
1 m u/5, 1 m 40-50, 1 f u/5, 1 f 5/10, 1 f 15-20, 1 f 30 - 10 and
1 male 70 - 80.

I have checked the 1850 census for Kosiusko County, Vigo County
and Vanderburgh Counties, not my Leonard Smith. Also checked
Clark County and the only Leonard Smith I have found is listed in
the prison at Jeffersonville.

How would I find out if the Leonard Smith in the prison belongs
to my Smith's or where else would I look? I also checked
Illinois, two Leonard Smith's, neither the correct one.
