Surname: BAUGHMAN, KRUGH
-------------------------
Hello all. I have two lines that intersect in Adams County in the second
half of the 19th century. My gggrandparents were William (1827-1913) and
Elizabeth MARKS (1834-1904) BAUGHMAN (buried in the municipal cemetery
in Decatur). They had the following children: William Otterbein b.1853,
Arkinson Berry (1855-1898) m. Rachael PORTER (1853-1930) (both buried in
Tricker cemetery, Blue Creek Twnshp.)--my great grandparents whose line
I have complete to today--, Sarah Irene (1859-1938) m. William TAGUE (1859-1927)(both
buried with her parents in Decatur), Mary Elizabeth (1869-1954) m. Clement
J. PITTMAN (both buried at the Methodist Home, Warren, Ind.), Lucy Catherine
(b.1871) m. George DOUGLAS, Adalanta Ursula Belle (b. 1875), Della, and
two sons who died as infants. Adalanta and Della may be the same person.
My paternal grandmother also had two brothers who lived, died and were
buried in Adams Co. (also in Tricker Cem.) Charles Arthur and Ernest Orestia
KRUGH. The KRUGHS came from Mercer County, Ohio. Charles Arthur was married
first to Rosa Belle MERRIMAN (mother of three daughters including FAYE
KRUGH AHR, recently deceased, of Decatur) and Mattie (Mate) MERRIMAN. Family
tradition says the two wives were "cousins." Ernest was married to Dolly
E. WELLS whom I assume was also from Adams Co. as they married there in
1908.
My father and all of his siblings were born at Salem in Adams County where
my ggrandfather was a partner in the general store until his death in 1898.
I have both his obit and his mother's (1904) from the Decatur paper, both
of which refer to the family as "prominent," whatever that is supposed
to mean. My grandparents Leroy Glenn BAUGHMAN and Gay Denzil KRUGH left
Adams Co. in 1920 and moved to Williams Co. Ohio.
Any of these names ring any bells or connect with anyone else's research?
I have lots of info. on both of these lines and would be willing to share
any and all.
