Surname: Morningstar
-------------------------

Hi! Page 658, 1979 History of Adams County, Indiana, states:On Augus 24,
1728 the ship Mortonhouse arrived at Philadelphia, having sailed June 15.
Eighty Palatines, with their families, about 205 persons, were recorded
on the list. Johannes Morgenstern, his wife and two children were among
them.

These pioneers, of German origin, conversed in the German language and
their descendants continued to use the name Morganstern for several generations.
Gradually they assumed the anglacized form "Morningstar."

Johannes located in York Co., PA near the present area of Hanover, where
he died in 1756. His son Philip (1718-1798) was married to Marie Eva, daughter
of John George and Catherine Kuntz. The Kuntz family came to America in
1732 on the ship Pennsylvania. Mr. Kuntz gave the land for the first Lutheran
Church in the settlement around Hanover.

Philip and marie were the parents of ten children, all recorded in the
records of St. Msatthews Lutheran Church at Hanover. Their oldesest child,
John (1740-1782) resided in Mt. Pleasant township, York County, where he
and Catherine had five children: Philip, Adam, Elizabeth, John and George.

George (1771-1850) the youngest child of John and Catherine, came to Ohio
about 1803, locating in Beaver Creek Township of Green County George served
in the War of 1812 with Captain Jacob Shingledecker's Company for six months.
In the year 1832, George and his family moved to Greenville Township, Darke
County, Ohio, where he died in 1850. George and mary were the parents of
eleven children, four of whom came to Adams County.....

(2) Samuel (1810-1884) an early settler and farmer in Blue Creek Township,
owning land in Section 31 and 32. He played the violin for many of the
country dances held in the homes in that area. Samauel was the father of
twelve children by three wives. He firwt married Jane Only, then in 1841
married Sarah Johnson and in 1883, married Camilla Brown. His children
were: Mary Jane, married Jacpob Rupert; George; James; Esther married Allen
Ross and John Rupert; Samuel; Nancy married George Rupert; Josephine married
Amos Avery; Benjamin married Josephine Sunday; Molly married Almon Schaffer;
and Dennis."

Does that help? Mrs. Eileen Davis Dawson lives on S. First Street, Decatur,
IN 46733--she wrote the account, and is a descendant. I assume that Smauel's
son Samuel is YOUR Samuel.
