Tobias L. Steffen Answers Summons
Tobias L. Steffen, 58, of Villa North, died at 3:45 a.m. today at the Clinic hospital, following an illness of three weeks. Death was due to cerebral thrombosis.
Born May 4, 1889 in Adams county, the decedent was the son of Peter and Elizabeth Schwartz Steffen. His first marriage was to Martha Baumgartner, Dec. 23, 1912 in Adams county. Her death occurred April 18, 1943. His second marriage Sept. 9, 1945, was to Lydia Oberlander, who survives.
Surviving besides the widow are five daughters, Mrs. Sylvester (Velma) Fulkerson, near Fort Wayne, Miss Norma Louise Steffen, at home, Mrs. Vernon (Maryann) Kaehr, Mrs. Wren (Lucile) Borror and Mrs. Booker (Hilda) Bowman, all of Bluffton; three sons, Elmer Lee Steffen, of Bay City, Mich., Harold Lee and Kenneth Eugene Steffen, all at home: three grandchildren: five brothers, John and Emil Steffen, Decatur route , Samuel, Joseph and William Steffen, all of Bluffton, and three sisters, Mrs. John Isch, of Villa North, Mrs. George Ringger, route 4, and Mrs. Mary Kipfer, of Bluffton. Tow sons are deceased.
The body will be removed this evening from the Jahn funeral home to the residence and friends may call after 7 o'clock.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the residence and 1:30 at the Apostolic Christian Church, of which Mr. Steffen was a member, in charge of Rev. Samuel Aeschliman. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
