ADAMS COUNTY PIONEER DIES - Mrs. Katherine Teeple, Age 90, Succumbs At Home of Daughter Here

Mrs. Katherine Tepele (sic), one of Adams county's oldest citizens, born in St. Mary's township, in 1835, died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Gay, in this city, Monday afternoon. Infirmities caused the death, which had been expected for the last several weeks. Mrs. Teeple was 90 years, eight months and three days of age.

The deceased was the widow of John A. Teeple. She lived her entire life in this county. Mrs. Teeple lived on her farm until about two years ago when she moved to this city, residing at the home of her son, William Teeple, and her daughter, Mrs. J. L. Gay.

Mrs. Teeple is survived by one sister, Mrs. Irwin Acker, of this city. Seven brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She is also survived by the following children: William H. Teeple, Decatur; Judson W. Teeple, Decatur; Benjamin Teeple, New York State; Zacharia T. Teeple, Ashley, Indiana; Martha E. Gay, Decatur; Anise Moser, Wren, Ohio. One daughter, Sarah J. Stoops, preceded the mother in death. Several grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Teeple was a prominent and well-known resident of this county. Her parents were members of the Disciple church, but Mrs. Teeple, not being close to a church of that denomination, attended the Christian church until a few years ago when her advanced age made it impossible to attend.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the J. L. Gay residence on North Second Street. The Rev. H. W. Thompson, pastor of the Christian church, will be in charge. Burial will take place at the Mt. Tabor cemetery where Mrs. Teeple's husband is buried.
