Gentlemen,

My grandmother was also placed in the Allen County Orphans Home. I have
done a little research. It was on the Lower Huntington Road just a few
miles from town (I don't know if they calculated from the center or the
outer edge). It no longer exists. I asked at the Allen County Library and
at the Allen County Historical Society and neither of them knew the
location of the records. In fact, the ACHS told me specifically that they
had been destroyed. I, too, would like to inspect them.

I know that in the obituary of my grandmother's birth father, it stated
that the three younger children were being placed for adoption. I'd like
to know why they didn't stay together and how m she arrived at ACOH.

My grandmother was adopted by Louis Jacob Geiss and Mary Elizabeth Cordell
Brown Geiss. Family tradition has it that Louis was a trustee of the
institution.
But that is unverified.
