Hello,

I am recently re-subscribed to this list, and am researching the line of John STEVENS of Fort Wayne, Allen Co, IN. b May 5, 1856 (possibly in Lafayette IN). John STEVENS lived most of his adult life in Ft Wayne, serving in the police force there; d Dec 23, 1929.

I have record of his third wife as Theresa BLAISING (or BLESIN, original French family spelling), who as step-mom raised his daughter Catherine (who m Fred STAHL) and son William Henry Alfred STEVENS (who m Agnes Antoinette TULLY of Chicago).

As for his first and second wives, I have scant and conflicting family remembrances, but it seems the first wife (possibly named Mary Clara, b Aug 20, 1856) gave birth to Catherine Nov 1880 and died shortly thereafter (Nov 17, 1881), whereupon John m the second wife (possibly also named Catherine, surname possibly KELLY, b May 25, 1862), who gave birth to son William Oct 23 1884) and died shortly thereafter (Nov 23, 1884)...wife number three wisely refraining from bearing her dear husband any children...

If anyone has access to local marriage indexes and could help me out with any info on these first two wives, I would appreciate hearing from you. (I have adequate verification of the third wife, though, as she is the only "mom" John STEVENS's kids remember).
