Brian, my ancestors, the JARVIS & HOWARD families, also came to Indiana from
Wilkes Co, NC, in the mid 1830's. They went to Rush Co & then migrated up to
Howard Co in 1850. I'm wondering if there's any connection to your POWELL
family? I still need to search Wilkes Co NC more thoroughly. Have you found
any good resources?
