Hello, my name is Bill Mings I grew up in Ogillville and I knew Mr. Levy
Harris. I was young but I remember a little about him. I will tell you what
I can. He lived on old state rd. 58, his home was just a short distance from
the old Ogillville grade school. Yes, his home sat at the foot of a small
hill. a bridge is within site of the house and the school is on the top of
that hill. The house still stands, but it is in poor shape now. The school
is used as a storage and volunter fire station now. MR. Harris ran a small
country store near Ogollville about 3 miles from his home. It was a good
store with all the things country people would need. MR. Harris was liked by
everyone. A lot of the young boys would hang around the store and listen to
the older men tell hunting and fishing stories. Mr. Harris loved to coon
hunt. He had gereat dogs and other people came to him for pointers on
training there dogs. He took me and other young people on some of the coon
hunts if we showed a intrest. He and the other men formed a coon hunters
club and it is still a active club now in Ogillville. A lot of the young men
who knew him looked uo to him, including me. He was a neat person to know. I
hope this helps it is all I can remember for now. I will think about him and
if I remember anymore I will e-mail you. Good luck in your search, my wife
is doing a family history on both of our people too. I know how it is to
get info. sometimes. She wants me to ask if you know any Bixler's, Mings,
Huffman's, Taylor's, Pruitt's if you , or if you know someone who has info.
on these families it would be very helpfull.
Thank you,
Bill Mings-----Original Message-----
