Brown County Birth and Death Records are found in the Health Dept. in the new County annex building one street to the north and east of the courthouse. They have a card file that has most of the death and birth information you can look through. They will let you look in the books if you pick one you want to examine. They will make out a death certificate if you want a copy but not out of the book. That's what I've found out so far. Marriage records are in the old courthouse in the Clerk's office and they are free to be searched, but their space is very cramped to work in. They also have Court Records and Probate/Will Books in the same office. The courthouse charges a dollar a copy. One nice thing most people don't know is that the Historical Society has all the old original documents that the court records were made from. You have to call make an appointment to make sure they will be open but I think they are usually open on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can make copies there !
of the originals documents. I think they charge $.25 a page. Otherwise the library has a nice collection of books of the indexes of the records, it might be wise to find what you're looking for at the library first then go to the courthouse. If you need any other info in particular let me know.
