Subject: What was What, Early County Formation?
Date: Tue, 18 Feb 2003 11:20:13 -0800 (PST)
Please:
In the early period for our Clark Co, Indiana Territory and then State, about 1809-1823:
Mathew McAfee, Rev War vet, was appointed at least twice to be Constable of CLARKSVILLE TOWNSHIP. What, when, where, why was a Clarksville TWP?
And some others, including Martin Huckleberry, was appointed Constable of SPRINGVILLE TOWNSHIP, and SPRINGVIEW TOWNSHIP. What, when, where, why were these two townships?
(none of the three seem to exist now.)
Mathew McAfee was also given license at least a couple of times to operate a tavern, but that was for Clark COUNTY.
Thank you. Regards Dick
