This story is about John Wiseman and Mary Ware. I read a lot of books about
Tecumseh and Prophet and can't see that the story could be true although the
dates are close enough. I've descended from the daughter of John and Mary,
Elizabeth Wiseman who married Lawrence Greer.
030304 John Wiseman (b-c1740/44? in PA?; d-After 1802? in Nelson Co.,
KY; m-c1765? in (?) to Mary Ware/Weir?; This is believed to be the same John
Wiseman who was captured by the Shawnee Indians and appeared on a List of
prisoners going to Ft. Pitt under the command of Captain Charles Lewis,
November 25, 1764, after being released. He is believed to be the same John
Wiseman who settled in Nelson Co., KY and JohnÕs son, 04030401 Abraham
Wiseman, came to Harrison Co., IN c1816, settling in that part of the
county that soon became Crawford Co., IN;
