Arch McDonald
The funeral services of Mr. Arch McDonald at the M. E. Church on last Sabbath were of a very solemn character. The sermon by Rev. A. Turner was from 2nd Samuel 12:23 which impressed all present with the truth that while there is a sense in which we should not weep for the dead there is a sense in which we may manifest the pent-up emotions of the soul, caused by sympathy for the departed. The singing by the choir on this occasion, led by Prof. Deacon, was very impressive and finely executed, especially the piece entitled "He has gone to the Silent Land," which melted many to tears.
