Marcellus Jones, aged 70 years, a lifelong resident of Daviess County, died at his home in Cumback at 10:30 o’clock this morning.

Death of Mr. Jones, who was well and favorably known in the southern part of the county, came after an illness of nearly a year. He had been seriously ill for the past three days. Complications due to advanced age caused his death.

The deceased was born July 24, 1860 in Harrison township, being a son of Eli and Mary (Palmer) Jones. He was a member of the Aikman Creek Baptist church, and throughout his life had lived on farms in the vicinity where he was born and died.

On December 18, 1880, he married Theatus Myrtle McCafferty, who survives. Eight children were born to this union, all of whom survive. The children are Mrs. Versie Carnahan of Veale township, Otto M. Jones of Veale, Nolen E. Jones of Harrison, Roy M. Jones of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Harley Gaither of Veale, Byford G. Jones of Niles, Mich., Bernice Jones at home and Ezra Jones of Niles, Mich. One sister, Mrs. Emily Colbert of Veale township, also survives.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed. James A. Gill will have charge of the funeral.
