Here is some info which I hope may help you.

1850 IN Daviess Co Barr tsp census

James Summers 36 farmer KY
Margaret " 32 KY
William " 12 IN
Elizabeth " 9 IN
James " 6 IN
Margaret " 3 IN
Nancy Stafford 2 IN

On rootsweb.com I searched for a James Summers with a wife named Margaret
and came up with a tree that named the wife as Margaret Ann Canary, daughter
of Jacob Canary and Elizabeth Myers. I left a postem to see if the submitter
know who this Nancy Stafford was but I believe she is a niece per below.
I'll let you know if they respond with any good info.

On familysearch.com I found info on a Nancy Canary b. 1820 Martin Co IN to
Jacob Canary and Elizabeth Myers. Jacob died in 1840 according to their info
so that's why I couldn't find him on the 1850 census. His wife must have
died before the 1850 census also.

There is also a pedigree for Jacob Canary on familysearch.com but you may
need to reenter his name to pull it up.

I have looked up on the later censuses trying to lookup William Stafford and
wife Nancy Canary with no luck. I am wondering if Nancy might have died in
childbirth and if William remarried. Living next door to the Summers family
is William Stafford 32 and Mary Stafford 28 with a child named Martha 6
months old.

Email me if you are interested in any of my theories. I have the info on
other censuses if you want it on Nancy Stafford married to John
Burris/Burress/Buress and family.
