I have some information on Timothy Kavanaugh, husband of Margaret Nolan. Tim’s brother in the US was Mark Kavanaugh, who married Bridget ONeill(my great-grand parents), and lived next to Tim in Cannelburg(two and three houses to the west of the Catholic church). In Ireland, his three brothers who stayed behind were William b. 1821, Joseph b. 1824,and John Kavanagh b. 1829(the “u” is not used in the name in Ireland). They lived in the hamlet Cloneybeg(only about 6 houses and not on the map), which is a few miles directly south of the town of Kildare, in County Kildare.

On Tim Kavanaugh’s tombstone at St. Peter’s in Montgomery, Indiana, it mentions he was from Cloneybeg, which is what led me there.

The three brothers are all buried in the cemetery of the Catholic Church at Nurney. The cemetery is up the road a bit from the church, not in the other cemetery in the churchyard itself. The tombstones are third row in on the left.

When I was there in the cemetery a descendant of Joseph Kavanagh showed up to pay a visit. He has since passed away but we have been back twice and visited other descendants.

Almost forgot. The parents of the five brothers were Patrick Kavanagh and Margaret Moore. (this research was done by the County Kildare Heritage Center). It is believed by the family that Margaret is a sister of Father Moore, a widely-known faith-healing priest from the early 1800’s. Father Moore’s Well is out in a farmers field not far from Kildare town, and appears to be still heavily visited today. At least there was a visible worn path back to the well when I was taken there.
