A Well Known and Respected Citizen Died Yesterday
Funeral Services At Two O'Clock
Oliver P. Sommers, a well known and highly respected citizen of this place died early yesterday morning of liver and kidney trouble. Mr. Sommers was a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Sommers, deceased, and was born in this county on Nov 18, 1863. On September 1, 1888 he was united in marriage to Martha Boyd and to this union six children were born, five of whom are living. Mr Sommers has lived in Odon for many years, moving here from the farm when young, and has made many friends here. He became a member of the Methodist church in 1880 and has always taken an active interest in the church work. He was a member of the Southern Indiana Band and the K. of P. and Ben Hur Lodges, and carried a $1000 policy in the latter. He had been sick since last March and recently was taken to a hospital at Indianapolis but returned a few weeks ago. He leaves a wife and five children, two brothers, Jacob and John Sommers of this place, three sisters, Mrs D. H. Harris of Indianapolis, Mrs John O'de!
ll and Mrs. C. W. Freeman of this place. The funeral services will be held at the M. E. Church this afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. C. C. Lowther in charge. The Knights of Pythia, the Ben Hur Lodge and the S. I. Band will attend in body. Burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery.
