Elijah is mentioned in Daviess County History Book by L. Rex Myers.

New London was a river town located on the North bank of the East fork of the White River in Vealte Township. It was platted October 22, 1836 with 36 lots by Elijah Chapman. The town grew to 113 lots platted in 1837 and additons were added. It was located along the south edge of the NW 1/4\of Sec 11 T1N,R7W.

Buyers of the first lots in New London were William /boyer, Elijah MASTERS, John Campbell Steenm etc.

Under section on Barr Schools:

By the late 1890's it was so unusual to finish the common schol, that school histories of the decade proudly listed each township's common school graduates. Barr's common graduates by 1897 were a follows:.....Lizzie Masters.

Also County Home Superintendents were listed and Elijah Masters serverd from 1844-1847.

There is mention of a Bob Masters, Elizabeth and Mrs Lynn.
