This response may be one I have been looking for years. Yes, there could be a connection. My g-grandfather Isaac J. Wright was born somewhere in Indiana (probably near the Ohio border) in December 1818. At that time I believe Dearborn was part of Wayne County, which is adjacent to Preble Co. OH. . In May of 1842 I have positive proof that Isaac married Rhoda Toney in Dixson Twp., Preble Co. Ohio. In the 1840 Preble Census I found a Robert Wright family living next to the William Toney family (Rhoda's father) in Dixon. Robert Wright's family contained a young man Isaac's age in this 1840 Census. Going back to the Indiana Census of 1820 I find only one Robert Wright with a baby Isaac's age in his home. He was living in Dearborn. Therefore I have always thought this Robert Wright must be Isaac's father. When the 1880 Census was taken Isaac was living in Grant Co. WI. He had been a United Brethren minister for years. It showed that Isaac's mother was born in VA and his father in!
NC. In 1875 we know Isaac, his wife and son were living in Greenville TN. Family word of mouth says that he was visiting a half brother there. If Robert Wright was his father they would probably come through Eastern TN around 1800. I found a Robert Wright in the 1799 Tax records for Greenville. I also found a Henry Miller there, that matched the father of the man who became Isaac's second father-in-law after Rhoda Toney died about 1850.
Do any of these facts match up with what you know about your Robert Wright? I would appreciate any data you can supply regarding your Robert Wright famy.
